ASX-listed entertainment app Megastar has landed a former X Factor boss as executive producer, as it ramps up plans for its million dollar global talent competition.
Marion Farrelly, who joins the company after senior roles at X Factor, The Celebrity Apprentice and the Australian and UK versions of Big Brother, will be in charge of talent production and developing the format of the host and celebrity talent videos.’
MSM’s strategy is to sign up fans and performers for the competition by the Megastar Millionaire smart phone app. The first to market platform is expected to monetise mobile video via a highly successful talent competition format which operates squarely within the $US25 billion online gaming and $US30bn mobile sectors.
“I love Megastar because it explodes the traditional concept of the regular TV talent show,” Ms Farrelly said in a statement. “It’s different, because the power really lies with the talent and the fans; performers deliver the content, fans judge and someone wins a cool $1 million prize. It’s the world’s first truly global and mobile-first platform, and I can’t wait to help launch it.”
MSM’s executive director APAC Sophie McGill said Ms Farrelly is arguably Australia’s best creative executive producer.
“We look forward to her contribution to the success of the Megastar competition,” she said.
MSM announced earlier this month it had launched the social influencer campaign which will include 14 dancers from the dance focused digital entertainment company, DanceOn, appointed as the first social influencers to amplify awareness of the upcoming competition.
DanceOn was co-founded by American singer Madonna has a global audience of more than 100 million viewers across mobile, web and streaming platforms.
