Apart from these new features, the update will also bring Oreo features like picture-in-picture, smart text selection, notification dots, android Instant apps, extended battery life and more. Huawei had previously announced that an Android Oreo update would also be rolled out to smartphone models including the Honor 8, Honor 9i and Honor 8 Lite. Recently, Honor has also introduced the Face Unlock feature to its smartphone line-up with the Honor View 10. With this update, the latest security feature will now be trickled down to its more budget-friendly offering. Apart from some impressive features like the Face Unlock and the AR Lens, there are no major changes carried by the new software.
To recap, the new Honor 9 comes with a 5.15-inch full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) with 2.5D curved glass display. There’s a 2.4GHz octa-core Kirin 960 processor and 4GB/6GB RAM. Besides, 64GB/128GB of internal storage, the Honor 9 comes with an optional storage via micro SD card. The smartphone runs Android 7.0 Nougat OS wrapped under EMUI 5.1 presently. There’s a 3200 mAh battery housed inside.
The Honor 9 houses a dual rear camera setup of 20 megapixels and 12 megapixels with phase detection autofocus, Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR, panorama, and a dual tone LED flash. The primary rear camera has f/2.2 aperture and 4K video recording. In the front, an 8-megapixel shooter with f/2.0 aperture is present for selfies.
