TV personality Larry Emdur and celebrity accountant Anthony Bell fronted the auction of a Bellevue Hill apartment that sold for more than $1m above reserve this week. The Bellevue Hill property sold for a record $6.65m through Sotheby’s agent James McCowan. The vendor was the estate of the late Aviva Moswzowski. The four-bed apartment attracted nine bidders with at least three represented by buyer’s agents, Edward Flitcroft, Simon Cohen and Veronica Morgan, who bought the property, believed to be on behalf of Christina Fisher.
Chinese rush in
Chinese buyers are rushing to Sydney’s eastern suburbs ahead of the NSW government’s decision to double stamp duty on foreign buyers to 8 per cent this Friday. A Chinese family bought the Berger family’s six-bedroom Latimer Road, Bellevue Hill mansion through Ray White Double Bay agents Elliott Placks and Ashley Bierman, paying more than $6.5m. The Bergers have traded up to 49-51 Suttie Road, Bellevue Hill for $13m-plus through Michael Pallier of Sotheby’s International. In a sale also negotiated by Elliott Placks and his co-Ray White agent Alexander George, a local eastern suburbs family bought 36 Kings Road, Vaucluse, from a Chinese family, who recently bought a $11.55m mansion in Bellevue Hill. The Kings Road house passed in at auction but after interest from buyers it sold on Wednesday.
Penthouse up for grabs
Retired obstetrician Ronald Don and wife Loretta have listed their Bellevue Hill penthouse with hopes of $3m-plus. The three-bed apartment fronting 177 Bellevue Hill Road will come on to the market within weeks through Richardson & Wrench agent Jeremy Wiesner and Ray White’s Elliott Placks. The auction date is yet to be set with Lawsons’ Shauna Farren-Price to auction the contents of the penthouse that the Don family have occupied for 31 years.
Estate under hammer
All that remains of the 560 lots auctioned by Lawsons this week of the estate of the late Cammack medical and political family from Penrith is a filing cabinet and bed head. A second auction of the vast estate of the late Eileen Cammack, who trained as a doctor and was Penrith’s first female mayor, and her husband Bill Cammack is scheduled within weeks following the sale of the couple’s vast Vista Street, Penrith property.
